January 2013 brought with it new changes at Rancho Arbol de Vida. A new family now lives in the ranch house, a new VP Manager of Operation is on site and there is a new look on the grounds. For a week in March, a 23-member mission team from Community Christian School in Melbourne, Florida, was at the ranch. The team built new foot paths allowing easy passage from the ranch house to the recreational corral and to the new building behind the house. The team also began construction of a wooden foot bridge that crosses the creek. The bridge was completed a few weeks later. The front parcel along the main road has been raised three feet with fill dirt to correct the low-lying areas. A new septic drain field for the house was dug at the same time. The corral was re-painted and pressure washed. Stephen Swain has come on board as the new VP Manager of Operations. Steve is a multi-talented man who has lived in Latin American countries in past years, is bi-lingual and has expertise in business and marketing. We are blessed to have him on our team! Javier and Marielos Alvarez, Jeremy and Stefani are our new residents. Javier has already envisioned and executed the several improvements that have taken place on the ranch in the past four months. His knowledge and hard work are a blessing! We are anticipating a small team in July to help begin building the first of several 'ranchito' recreational pavilions that will be used to bring in much needed revenue for re-investment to the ranch. At present, we lease out our pasture to a farmer who has 36 head of cattle.
