Pet Safety tips for your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations

St. Patrick’s Day is tomorrow! Regardless of how you like to commemorate the day, here are some safety tips to keep in mind to make sure your pets are comfortable and safe! From our blog 4 tips to keep pets safe on St. Patrick’s Day.
St. Patty’s Day pet tips
-
Decorations: If there’s any green tinsel or ribbon around, be sure to keep that away from your pets. Cats and dogs are attracted to this and if swallowed it could cause them harm.
- Celebrations: On St. Patrick’s Day many people enjoy chocolate, food and an alcoholic beverage or two. Please be mindful that these can be harmful to your pet and you should keep your pet away from consuming any of your celebratory treats!
- Patty Costumes: Today is not the day for your dog to try on their St. Patrick’s Day costume for the first time. You need to make sure they are going to be comfortable and that the costume won’t be too tight, or too loose and catch on their feet as they walk. If you haven’t prepared in advance – save the costume for next year!
- Keep pets away from party scenes: If you’re having a party in your house, you may not be able to monitor where your pet is and what food or drink others may be giving them. Find a quiet place for your pets away from the noise where they can feel safe. As well, if you know you live near bars or pubs where there will be a lot of activity today, consider re-routing your walk for a quieter and safer environment.
